Supersonics Piano Method Level Two is designed for Elementary pianists and will provide 12-18 months of material. The target age range is 6-12 but it is suitable for all ages (older students may be more suited to Quick Start though). There are three ways to effectively use this method:

  1. Use this book in conjunction with the free version of Supersonics Plus
  2. Subscribe to Supersonics Plus to experience the full comprehensive program (if you are a Plus subscriber you can print all the pieces in this book as part of your membership).
  3. Use this book as the repertoire, technical and creative base for your teaching/learning. You can then add your own aural and theory programs.

Modules: This book features modules 12 to 22 of the course (there are 30 in total). Each module is targeted towards a particular concept, note-reading range or rhythm making it easy to understand and to integrate supplementary material.

Techniques: The six fundamental techniques introduced in Level One are consolidated and extended in this book.

Note-reading: The reading approach is intervallic + landmark note based. In this level the note-reading expands outwards until we reach the high and low Cs off the stave. Key signatures are introduced in this level.

Rhythm: Any rhythmic system can be used with this method (e.g. French rhythm names or counting) making it very flexible and adaptable.

Style: The greater majority of this book consists of original pieces by me! These are composed in an engaging, contemporary style. In order to expand a student's musical range I have also included folk tunes, canons, popular classic arrangements and an introduction to "authentic" classical repertoire.

Creative: This book includes simple harmonization exercises and compositions.

Popular harmony: A unique feature of this method is the inclusion of the structured development of practical contemporary harmony skills. Every module features a piece that further explores contemporary harmony.

Supersonics Plus

Supersonics Plus is the online system that works in conjunction with this book in order to give you the "complete" method experience. Supersonics Plus features:

Backing tracks: Every original piece has a backing track. Practicing with backing tracks is a great way to develop a strong sense of beat.

Supplementary repertoire: Supersonics Plus features a huge library of supplementary pieces.

Rhythm Builders: Every piece has a Rhythm Builder worksheet associated with it.
